Народная сказка Sadko - Садко |
Народная сказка Sadko - Садко
In the fable of Sadko, a man appearing to be a poor psaltery player, has talents which are neglected by the merchants of the City of Novgorod . However Sadko, was indeed a very talented person. This was the reason that the beautiful Sea princess, Volkhova, daughter of Tsar Morskoi, the King of the Sea, was charmed by Sandko's music and songs. Eventually, the princess Volkhova fell in love with the psaltery player.
Princess Volkhova gave Sadko a chance to redeem himself when betting on the incidence of golden fish in Lake Ilmen . Sadko won his wager, which had been his life against the wealth of all merchant ships. He took the ships and asked the townspeople to take care of his wife, Lubava, and set sail.
On his journey, Sadko visited Venice , Scandinavia , Egypt , India and many other countries. But, as the ships sailed back to Russia , the wind ceased and the ships could not move. It was that then Sadko realized that because the people had not made proper sacrifices to the Tsar Morskoi, king of the Sea, the ships now stood still. In order to save the sailors Sadko sacrificed himself and jumped into the water. Instantly a brisk breeze filled the sails of the ships and they sailed away towards home.
Sadko fell to the bottom of the sea and found himself in the palace of the Tsar Morskoi. The King and Queen of the Sea had heard about Sadko's musical talents and asked him to play and to sing for them. They were overjoyed and decided to make Sadko stay in Sea Tsardom and promised Volkhova to be his bride. But Sadko told Volkhova that he couldn't marry her, as he still loved his wife, Lubava. Upset, but still loving the psaltery player, she helped Sadko to pluck away with the help of a flock of sea-horses which took Sadko back to the shore of Lake Ilmen.
Tired form the journey, Volkhova sings a lullaby to Sadko and he falls asleep. Volkhova kisses him quietly and disappears into the mist, thus becoming the river Volkhova which flows from Lake Ilmen to the sea.
Sadko's wife, Lubava, who was waiting for her husband all that time, was overjoyed to see her beloved husband again.
They lived happily aver after.

Like a Rolling Stone | Как бродяга |
Once upon a time you dressed so fine
You threw the bums a dime in your prime, didn't you
People'd call, say, "Beware doll, you're bound to fall"
You thought they were all kiddin' you
You used to laugh about
Everybody that was hangin' out
Now you don't talk so loud
Now you don't seem so proud
About having to be scrounging for your next meal
How does it feel
How does it feel
To be without a home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone
You've gone to the finest school all right, Miss Lonely
But you know you only used to get juiced in it
And nobody has ever taught you how to live on the street
And now you're gonna have to get used to it
You said you'd never compromise
With the mystery tramp, but now you realize
He's not selling any alibis
As you stare into the vacuum of his eyes
And say do you want to make a deal
How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
A complete unknown
Like a rolling stone
You never turned around to see the frowns on the jugglers and the clowns
When they all did tricks for you
You never understood that it ain't no good
You shouldn't let other people get your kicks for you
You used to ride on the chrome horse with your diplomat
Who carried on his shoulder a Siamese cat
Ain't it hard when you discover that
He really wasn't where it's at
After he took from you everything he could steal
How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone
Princess on the steeple and all the pretty people
They're all drinkin', thinkin' that they got it made
Exchanging all precious gifts
But you'd better take your diamond ring, you'd better pawn it babe
You used to be so amused
At Napoleon in rags and the language that he used
Go to him now, he calls you, you can't refuse
When you got nothing, you got nothing to lose
You're invisible now, you got no secrets to conceal
How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone

There are good people in the world and some who are not so good. There are also people who are shameless in their wickedness.
Wee Little Havroshechka had the bad luck to fall in with such as these. She was an orphan and these people took her in and brought her up, only to make her work till she couldn't stand. She wove and spun and did the housework and had to answer for everything.
Now the mistress of the house had three daughters. The eldest was called One-Eye, the second Two-Eyes, and the youngest Three-Eyes. The three sisters did nothing all day but sit by the gate and watch what went on in the street, while Wee Little Havroshechka sewed, spun and wove for them and never heard a kind word in return.
Sometimes Wee Little Havroshechka would go out into the field, put her arms round the neck of her brindled cow and pour out all her sorrows to her.
"Brindled, my dear," she would say, "they beat me and scold me, they don't give me enough to eat, and yet they forbid me to cry. I am to have five pounds of flax spun, woven, bleached and rolled by tomorrow."
And the cow would say in reply, "My bonny lass, you have only to climb into one of my ears and come out through the other and your work will be done for you." And just as Brindled said, so it was. Wee Little Havroshechka would climb into one of the cow's ears and come out through the other, and behold! there lay the cloth, all woven and bleached and rolled. Little Havroshechka would then take the rolls of cloth to her mistress, who would look at them and grunt, and put them away in a chest and give Wee Little Havroshechka even more work to do.
And Wee Little Havroshechka would go to Brindled, put her arms round her and stroke her, climb into one of her ears and come out through the other, pick up the ready cloth and take it to her mistress again.
One day the old woman called her daughter One-Eye to her and said, "My good child, my bonny child, go and see who helps the orphan with her work. Find out who spins the thread, weaves the cloth and rolls it."
One-Eye went with Wee Little Havroshechka into the woods and she went with her into the fields, but she forgot her mother's command and she basked in the sun and lay down on the grass. And Havroshechka murmured, "Sleep, little eye, sleep!"
One-Eye shut her eye and fell asleep. While she slept, Brindled wove, bleached and rolled the cloth. The mistress learned nothing, so she sent for her second daughter, Two-Eyes.
"My good child, my bonny child, go and see who helps the orphan with her work."
Two-Eyes went with Wee Little Havroshechka, but she forgot her mother's commend and she basked in the sun and lay down on the grass. And Wee Little Havroshechka murmured, "Sleep, little eye! Sleep, the other little eye!" Two-Eyes shut her eyes a nd she dozed off. While she slept, Brindled wove, bleached and rolled the cloth.
The old woman was very angry and on the third day she told her third daughter, Three-Eyes, to go with Wee Little Havroshechka, to whom she gave more work than ever. Three-Eyes played and skipped about in the sun until she was so tired that she lay down o n the grass. And Wee Little Havroshechka sang out, "Sleep, little eye! Sleep, the other little eye!"
But she forgot all about the third little eye. Two of Three-Eyes' eyes fell asleep, but the third looked on and saw everything. It saw Wee Little Havroshechka climb into one of the cow's ears and come out through the other and pick up the ready cloth.
Three-Eyes came home and told her mother what she had seen. The old woman was overjoyed, and on the very next day she went to her husband and said, "Go and kill the brindled cow."
The old man was astonished and tried to reason with her. "Have you lost your wits, old woman?", he said. "The cow is a good one and still young."
"Kill it and say no more," the wife insisted.
There was no help for it, and the old man began to sharpen his knife. Wee Little Havroshechka found out all about it and she ran to the field and threw her arms around Brindled.
"Brindled, dearie," she said, "they want to kill you!"
And the cow replied, "Do not grieve, my bonny lass, but do what I tell you. Take my bones, tie them up in a kerchief, bury them in the garden and water them every day. Do not eat of my flesh and never forget me."
The old man killed the cow, and Wee Little Havroshechka did as Brindled had told her. She went hungry, but she would not touch the meat, and she buried the bones in the garden and watered them every day.
After a while an apple tree grew out of them, and a wonderful tree it was! Its apples were round and juicy, its swaying boughs were of silver, and its rustling leaves were of gold. Whoever drove by would stop to look, and whoever came near marveled.
A long time passed by and a little time. One day One-Eye, Two-Eyes and Three-Eyes were out walking in the garden. And who should chance to be riding by at the time but a young man, handsome and strong and rich and curly-haired. When he saw the juicy apples he stopped and said to the girls teasingly, "Fair maidens! Her I will marry amongst you three who brings me an apple off yonder tree."
And off rushed the sisters to the apple tree, each trying to get ahead of the others. But the apples which had been hanging very low and seemed within easy reach now swung up high in the air above the sisters' heads. The sisters tried to knock them down, but the leaves came down in a shower and blinded them. They tried to pluck the apples off, but the boughs caught in their braids and unplaited them. Struggle and stretch as they might, they could not reach the apples and only scratched their hands.
Then Wee Little Havroshechka walked up to the tree, and at once the boughs bent down and the apples came into her hands. She gave an apple to the handsome young stranger and he married her. From that day on she knew no sorrow, and she and her husband lived happily ever after.

My all | Моё всё |
I am thinking of you
In my sleepless solitude tonight
If it's wrong to love you
Then my heart just won't let me be right
'Cause I've drowned in you
And I won't pull through
Without you my my side
I'd give my all
To have just one more night with you
I'd risk my life
To feel your body next to mine
'Cause I can't go on
Living in the memory of our song
I'd give my all
For your love tonight
Baby, can you feel me
Imagining I'm looking in your eyes
I can see you clearly
Vividly emblazoned in my mind
And yet you're so far
Like a distant star
I'm wishing on tonight
I'd give my all
To have just one more night with you
I'd risk my life
To feel your body next to mine
'Cause I can't go on
Living in the memory of our song
I'd give my all
For your love tonight
I'd give my all
To have just one more night with you
I'd risk my life
To feel your body next to mine
'Cause I can't go on
Living in the memory of our song
I'd give my all
For your love tonight
Give my all for your love

The Pearl - Жемчужина (рассказ) |
Рассказ The Pearl - ЖемчужинаThe largest single natural pearl known as a drop shaped gem, three inches long and nearly two inches thick, was found by a Persian diver in the pearl bearing bed near Bahrain in the year 1628. The Mogul Emperor Shah Jahan bought it for enormous amount and presented it to his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahall. A century later, the gem known as the “Pearl of Asia” was listed among the treasures of Ch’ien Lung, Manchu Emperor of China and in 1799 it was buried with the Emperor”s body.
In the year 1900 a gang of grave robbers managed to steal this famous pearl and sold it to somebody in China. Eighteen years later it turned up in Hong Kong and was acquired as security for a loan by the Catholic Board of Foreign Missions. It is stated, when the loan was in default, the religious people carried it to Paris during World War and sold it for an unrevealed price to an unidentified person, but for an amount believed to be below the prewar estimated value. The present whereabouts of this giant pearl have remained a mystery and, as such it has become only a subject of research.
As usual, the giant pearl of Shah Jahan and other historic diamonds mysteriously slipped away from the subcontinent and found their way to Great Britain.

Feel | Чувствовать |
Come on hold my hand
I wanna contact the living
Not sure I understand
This role I've been given.
I sit and talk to God
And he just laughs at my plans
My head speaks a language
I don't understand.
I just wanna feel real love
Feel the home that I live in
'Cause I got too much life
Running through my veins
Going to waste.
I don't wanna die
But I ain't keen on living either
Before I fall in love
I'm preparing to leave her.
Scare myself to death
That's why I keep on running
Before I've arrived
I can see myself come in.
I just wanna feel real love
Feel the home that I live in
Cause I got too much life
Running through my veins
Going to waste.
And I need to feel real love
In the life ever after
I cannot get enough.
I just wanna feel real love
Feel the home that I live in
I got too much love
Running through my veins
To go to waste.
I just wanna feel real love
In the life ever after
There's a hole in my soul
You can see it in my face
It's a real big place.
Teary
Since that day
Forever
Feel
Come on hold my hand
I wanna contact the living
Not sure I understand
This role I've been given.

Сказка The Three Wishes - Три желания |
Сказка The Three Wishes - Три желания
Once upon a time... a woodcutter lived happily with his wife in a pretty little log cabin in the middle of a thick forest. Each morning he set off singing to work, and when he came home in the evening, a plate of hot steaming soup was always waiting for him.
One day, however, he had a strange surprise. He came upon a big fir tree with strange open holes on the trunk. It looked somehow different from the other trees, and as he was about to chop it down, the alarmed face of an elf popped out of a hole.
"What's all this banging?" asked the elf. 'You're not thinking of cutting down the tree, are you? It's my home. I live here!" The woodcutter dropped his axe in astonishment.
"Well, I..." he stammered.
"With all the other trees there are in this forest, you have to pick this one. Lucky I was in, or I would have found myself homeless."
Taken aback at these words, the woodcutter quickly recovered, for after all the elf was quite tiny, while he himself was a big hefty chap, and he boldly replied, 'I'll cut down any tree I like, so ...*
"All right! All right!" broke in the elf. "Shall we put it in this way: if you don't cut down this tree, I grant you three wishes. Agreed?"
The woodcutter scratched his head. "Three wishes, you say? Yes, I agree." And he began to hack at another tree. As he worked and sweated at his task, the woodcutter kept thinking about the magic wishes.
"I'll see what my wife thinks..."
The woodcutter's wife was busily cleaning a pot outside the house when her husband arrived. Grabbing her round the waist, he twirled her in delight.
"Hooray! Hooray! Our luck is in!"
The woman could not understand why her husband was so pleased with himself and she shrugged herself free. Later, however, over a glass of fine wine at the table, the woodcutter told his wife of his meeting, with the elf, and she too began to picture the wonderful things that the elf's three wishes might give them. The woodcutter's wife took a first sip of wine from her husband's glass.
"Nice", she said, smacking her lips. "I wish I had a string of sausages to go with it, though..."
Instantly she bit her tongue, but too late. Out of the air appeared the sausages, while the woodcutter stuttered with rage.
"... what have you done! Sausages... What a stupid waste of a wish! You foolish woman. I wish they would stick up your nose!" No sooner said than done. For the sausages leapt up and stuck fast to the end of the woman's nose. This time, the woodcutter's wife flew into a rage.
"You idiot, what have you done? With all the things we could have wished for ..." The mortified woodcutter, who had just repeated his wife's own mistake, exclaimed:
"I'd chop...' Luckily he stopped himself in time, realising with horror that he'd been on the point of having his tongue chopped off. As his wife complained and blamed him, the poor man burst out laughing,
"If only you knew how funny you look with those sausages on the end of your nose!' Now that really upset the woodcutter's wife. She hadn't thought of her looks.
She tried to tug away the sausages but they would not budge. She pulled again and again, but in vain. The sausages were firmly attached to her nose.
Terrified, she exclaimed, "They'll be there for the rest of my life!"
Feeling sorry for his wife and wondering how he could ever put up with a woman with such an awkward nose, the woodcutter said, "I'll try."
Grasping the string of sausages, he tugged with all his might. But he simply pulled his wife over on top of him. The pair sat on the floor, gazing sadly at each other.
"What shall we do now?" they said, each thinking the same thought.
"There's only one thing we can do ..." ventured the woodcutter's wife timidly.
"Yes, I'm afraid so..." her husband sighed, remembering their dreams of reaches, and he bravely wished the third and last wish, "I wish the sausages would leave my wife's nose."
And they did. Instantly, husband and wife hugged each other tearfully, saying, "Maybe we'll be poor, but we'll be happy again!"
That evening, the only reminder of the woodcutter's meeting with the elf was the string of sausages. So the couple fried them, gloomily thinking of what that meal had cost them.
